Updated 2025 MCC Program
An updated program is available on the website. There have been changes to some workshops/presentations and information regarding most of the judges been updated. The current copy is always on the website in the Member’s Documents section.
March Workshops and Presentations
The two sessions this month have a nature theme leading into the set subject for April.
11th Presentation: African Adventures – David, Nancy, Peter and Debbie
18th Presentation: Understanding and complying with the Nature definition – Roy Killen
Roy’s session is always a good update on what is allowed within the strict nature genre. It is a great way to develop your understanding of the definition and avoid disqualification in competitions!
PSA Interclub – Round 3 Images
The deadline for new images that members want to have considered to represent the club in Round 3 is 30th March. Sections are: Colour, photo travel and nature.
The entry portal is with the other club competitions.
Street Photography Workshop – Melbourne CDB
Dear MCC members,
I’ve just returned from a 3-day workshop with John Armytage Photography – he resides in Port Macquarie. He and off-sider, Craig Williams, put on a good program in the Port Macquarie area and it was a good quality experience for me. They look after their clients really well and manage all levels of photographer skills. I’ve done a few photography workshops (Norfolk Island, Tasmania and parts of NSW) with John and he is consistent in the product that he delivers.
They’re holding a workshop in Melbourne 13 – 16 March 2025, titled “MELBOURNE CBD – STREET PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP” – https://www.johnarmytagephotography.com.au/melbourne-tour-march-2025. The cost may seem high but the majority of costs is the accommodation.
I thought that someone from the Club might be interested.
BTW, I don’t get any commission for this message. I’m actually participating, flying from Newcastle to Melbourne on the 13th March and it would be good to get some LMCC members to participate as well. I can answer some questions but it would be best if you contacted John via email (john_armytage@bigpond.com).
Cheers,
Phil Whiteman

Fit to Print
Members may be interested in this unique exhibition at the National Library in Canberra.
“The Library has invited renowned Australian photojournalist Mike Bowers to select some of his favourite images from the Fairfax Photo Archive. With images printed from the original glass-plate negatives the exhibition explores how the pioneers of press photography in Australia developed their storytelling skills while also creating a lasting record of Australian society in the opening decades of the twentieth century.”
There is also a very interesting curators essay available on the website – https://www.library.gov.au/whats-on/exhibitions/fit-print-defining-moments-fairfax-photo-archive/curators-essay
