2019 Competition is now open for entry

View this on our website at https://newcastlenational.myphotoclub.com.au

Welcome to the 38th Newcastle National Exhibition of Photography, which is jointly presented by the Newcastle Show and the Newcastle Photographic Society.

Entries close on 25 November 2019 and the exhibition dates are 06, 07 & 08 March 2020 at the Newcastle Show. Please check the calendar for other dates.

We look forward to your participation in the 38th Newcastle National and ask that you encourage your fellow club members, and other photographers in general, to enter.

The Newcastle National is one of the few “print-only” competitions remaining. Several thousand people see this exhibition as the Newcastle Show is one of the largest regional shows in the country. Entrants are invited to place a price on their entries as the prints can be offered for sale at the exhibition.

We look forward to your support to continue the fine heritage of this exhibition.

Maitland Photography Hunt 2019

The aim of the Photo Hunt is to have members of the Maitland Camera Club wander the streets of Maitland armed with six themed categories and have a fun filled few hours with friends to hunt for images which they feel will suit each category. This will be done within a two week timeframe. Once the images are entered, they will be judged and a first prize for each category will be awarded.

This is an EDI entry only and due to this being a fun event, placings will not be added to Maitland Camera Clubs competition point score.

18th August-1st Sept photos are taken.

1st Sept is the last day photos can be submitted on line via the Maitland Camera Club website by 11:45pm.

1st Sept -9th Sept photos will be judged.

10th Sept the images will be displayed and the judge will comment on each image and present each category winner with an award.

Up close

From the 18th of August the six categories and a map will be available on line via the Maitland Camera Club’s website. You then have two weeks to wander around Maitland to find and take photos within those categories. You can enter up to two images per category but you do not have to enter all categories if you don’t want to.

How you interpret each category is totally up to you. You can be straight forward, think outside the box or be as creative as you like, except for monochrome, this must be in black and white or in varying tones of only one colour.

Getting a small group together is a great idea for a fun few hours if you feel so inclined, and for safety reasons it would be preferable if you were with at least one other person to keep you company. The most important thing is to have fun.

Hunter River, Ken Tubmen Drive, New England Highway, traffic lights and the corner of High Street and New England Highway.

APS Cup individual results and downloadable Catalog

Maitland placed 11th narrowly missing out on the placings.

The Club requires a Competition director who is responsible for rallying up the members to submit images to 2 Association Competitions each year. The APS Cup ( we came 6th last year) and the FCC Top Shot. If you think that you are the person for the job please contact me and I will outline what is required. This is not a difficult job, nor a time consuming one, it is simple task that requires one to gather images from our members through out the and put them together. We will have an experienced judging panel to make the final selection for submission. So, if you think that you would like to take on this role and learn a bit more on how Camera Clubs work just shoot me an email or call me. Please!!! 🙂
