Some Inspirational Creative Photographers

As I drove home last night I was thinking of other creative photographers that I have come across in my roles with various national and international competitions. I thought members may like to explore some or all of the following!

Liz Hardley – is a New Zealand photographer who enters in the Maitland Salon. She has diverse creative images. https://www.lizhardleyimages.com/creative.html

Heather Prince – is a Victorian photographer. Again, enters in the Maitland Salon. All Heather’s work is stunning. I particularly like her still life work and its lighting. https://heatherprincephoto.com/altered-reality-off-and-away/

Karen Alsop – Karen like Michelle Kennedy has a creative mind that is beyond belief. https://www.portfolio.storyart.com.au/

Michelle Kennedy – is a local photographer who has presented sessions for MCC in previous years. Her work is superb. https://mkdigitalart.com.au/

Dianne English – is a long-time friend of our club and she will be doing two sessions later in the year. Dianne has a range of creative work, but recently she has been playing a lot with flowers. Dianne has a policy of growing all the flowers that she uses in her photography! https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100076287452776

MCC Procedures for the Selection of Images for External Competitions (PSA Interclub, APS Challenge Cup, FFC Cup etc)

Competing in national and international competitions is a key strategy our club uses to extend the photographic skills of our members and to ensure we all continue to grow as photographers. This strategy also provides an opportunity for more experienced members to be involved in the judging process.

However, in our busy lives, ensuring our best quality entries are entered by the deadline is just another thing we have to do!

Neville Foster coordinates the PSA Interclub Competition, lately it has been very difficult for him because of the limited number of images members have entered for consideration. This has resulted in an entry that was not up to our usual standard.

For the remainder of 2022, MCC will trial a different system for selecting the images that represent the club in these external competitions. This new system should make it easier for both members and coordinators.

Selection of Images

  • The MCC competition coordinator/or their nominated member will make the selections for the nominated competition. They will select from images held in the MyPhotoClub database for all competitions that members have submitted images – this could be the monthly competitions, special events etc
  • The selected images will be emailed to the MCC competition coordinator for final checking, size and category etc and will be uploaded to the nominated competition address to represent Maitland Camera Club.

Submitting New Images

  • The entry point/button for these external competitions will remain in the Member’s Section of our website. Members are encouraged to submit any new images they wish to be considered using this facility.
  • These new images must reach the coordinator before the nominated closing date.

The MCC competition coordinator will circulate to all members, the successful images to represent MCC in the respective competition; and adjust their personal records.
This is to be recorded in the club’s MyPhotoClub system also; against the respective image.

Opting Out

If a member does not want their images used in this way they will need to opt out by emailing the Secretary who will maintain a register.

We hope that by doing it this way there is a strong possibility that we will have a stronger entry to represent the club.

Determining Eligibility to Represent MCC

  • The competition coordinator will only consider images of financial members of MCC for entry in external competitions.
  • The membership records maintained by the membership secretary will be consulted to determine eligibility for each competition.
  • The MCC competition coordinators will provide the membership list to the member doing the selection of the images.
