New Members group on Facebook

A new closed group Please request to join on the link below or copy and paste into browser https://www.facebook.com/groups/1785743194996558/

Hi everyone. After some discussion with Brad about our FB presence, I discovered the problem is the Camera Club has a FB Page – not a Group, so only the owner can actually post to the page.
Therefore I have started this group so we can talk about Camera Club things in consolidated place rather than having to jump around all the different groups we belong to 🙂

Please use this page for anything related to the Camera Club – and if you are planning a trip somewhere and don’t mind others joining in – we can put it up as an event 🙂

Invitation to Enter the Lake Macquarie National Exhibition of Digital Photography

Members of Maitland Camera Club now have easy access to enter the inaugural Lake Macquarie National Exhibition of Digital Photography.  A link to the Exhibition’s website is provided under the Clubs and Comps menu on Maitland Camera Club’s Home Page.

The Exhibition is for EDI images only.  The image upload procedure and EDI size limits are as for Maitland Camera Club’s own competitions.  Entries can be uploaded and changed at any time before the closing date of 21st November.  See the Exhibition’s website for full details of sections, number of entries and fees.

This exhibition has the patronage of the Australian Photographic Society (APS), so acceptances and awards count towards honours for members of this Society.

This exhibition will provide an opportunity for members of Maitland Club to have their work assessed at exhibition level as well as showcase their work to a wider audience.

Maitland Camera Club’s Website Goes Live!

On-line entry forms for this year’s remaining competitions have been activated.  Once members login, these forms are available under the “For Members – Enter Competitions” menu or the “Enter Competitions” link under Quick Links.

A nice feature of the entry forms is that entries can be swapped or deleted up until the nominated auto cut-off time (midnight on the Sunday preceding the monthly competition judging day).

All competition sections (print and EDI) require EDI versions to be uploaded via the entry form.  The EDI versions of prints are used for management only.  The actual prints are still used for judging.

Adoption of the MyPhotoClub system by the Club facilitates entering and managing competitions, both the Club’s own competitions and other competitions that are linked into the MyPhotoClub network.  Members can view these competitions using the “Clubs and Comps” menu.

Viewing of 2016 Assignment Images on Tuesday 9 August

Starting at 7pm Tuesday 9 August, we will be viewing and commenting on images made by members for this year’s assignment.  Arising from Geoff Patchett’s tutorial on Abstract Photography in June, members were invited to produce for 9 August, three different digital abstract images according to the following guidelines –

One image the relies mainly on lines or shape for its effect.

One image that relies on colour, and

One image that relies mainly on the subject being out of context.

Please contact Geoff if you would like a copy of his slide presentation or have questions about the assignment.
